Leasing for Impact: Smart Leasing Strategy in the City of Denver

Aligning Landlords and Tenants for Energy-Efficient Buildings
Overview

The City of Denver sought to overcome one of real estate’s persistent barriers to sustainability: the split incentive between landlords and tenants. To meet the city’s climate goals, and ensure the success of the Energize Denver ordinance, Denver needed a way to mainstream high-performance lease practices.

RE Tech was engaged to lead the charge in stakeholder engagement, program design, and training development to make smart leasing a reality. Over three years, we built the framework, tools, and momentum needed to bring the Smart Leasing Program to life.
